Cbrestore in 5.0 Beta doesn't exist in Debian install

Hi folks,

The latest Debian 8.0 install of the 5.0 beta doesn’t seem to have cbrestore or cbbackup in /opt/couchbase/bin. They’re still referenced in the documentation, and cbrestore is needed for older backups not created with cbbackupmgr.

Are they being deprecated? Or just missing from the build?

Thanks,

Dave

Hey @daves,

cbrestore and cbbackup are being deprecated for future releases of Couchbase Server Enterprise Edition.
These tools were deliberately removed from 5.0 due to this, however after some further consideration were re-added as part of Loading... (to give users appropriate time to react to the deprecation). While they are not in the beta build, they should be present in future 5.0 builds.

Hope that helps!

Matt

If cbbackup will be deprecated what will be the replacement? cbexport, cbimport?

Hi @daves,

As Matt mentioned cbbackup & cbrestore will be deprecated for future releases of Couchbase Server Enterprise Edition since we shipped replacement cbbackupmgr in 4.5 last year. Here is the documentation - https://developer.couchbase.com/documentation/server/4.6/backup-restore/enterprise-backup-restore.html and What’s New in 4.5 - https://developer.couchbase.com/documentation/server/4.5/introduction/whats-new.html.
