I am suffering from https://issues.couchbase.com/browse/MB-20164 while using 4.5.0 (CE). I have 2 options, either, upgrade to 4.6.0 (CE) which is in developer preview or downgrade to 4.1.1 which is an older version.
I would like to upgrade but I do not know if it’s wise to do so since 4.6.0 is in developer preview. Is it likely that a Generally Available version will be out soon if I wait just a bit?
Couchbase Server 4.6 GA will be released very soon, but that will be just the Enterprise Edition (EE). There will be a 4.6 Community Edition, but that comes usually 6 months or more later. You can read more here.
This strategy with EE/CE is the way Couchbase (the company) releases software, and it lets us fund development of Couchbase Server. Another alternative to get this bug fix: some users will cherry pick patches and build their own Couchbase Server but that’s most appropriate if you know what you’re doing. Hope that helps.

The Couchbase Server Developer Previews don’t really make a distinction between CE / EE - they are the Enterprise Edition bits and they include all features and bug fixes from Enterprise Edition. For that reason, it’s a good idea to take a look at the list of EE/CE features to make sure you know what to expect in the future. This blog post explains this pretty well: https://blog.couchbase.com/couchbase-server-editions-explained-open-source-community-edition-and-enterprise-edition/
