CE 7.2 cluster working, after reboot won't start

I have a new cluster CE 7.2.2 build 6401 on RHEL 8. Migrated data from 6.5.1 via 7.0.2 cbbackupmgr. Seemed to work fine for about a week, then admin rebooted the machine. When I noticed the node failed over, I recovered and rebalanced the node, and the cluster thought everything was fine.
But on the server, I could not get couchbase-server status to return a status, and I would get thrown into eshell:
$ couchbase-server status
Erlang/OTP 24 [erts-12.3.2.4] [source-c057945] [64-bit] [smp:4:4] [ds:4:4:10] [async-threads:16] [jit]

Eshell V12.3.2.4 (abort with ^G)
(babysitter_of_ns_1@cb.local)1>

(note: non-root install)

At this point I have looked at logs and such, tried repeatedly to stop, status, start and finally rebooted the machine. Now cb won’t come up.
I have collected info, but file is >250MB and not sure how to proceed from here. Newb, so any assistance appreciated.

Syntax/Newbie error.
Wrong: couchbase-server start
Right!: couchbase-server --start

Thank you for the post! No need to be ashamed. At best, someone else might have the exact same issue, and you’re helping them. At worst, you’re still feeding the LLM robots with good information :slight_smile:
